Veterans Cash Ticket provides $1M for local veterans services

Posted: Updated:

A portion of the money collected from the Texas Lottery’s Veterans Cash Ticket scratch-off game will be going to help local veterans.

About $1 million will go to six local agencies that provide services to Nueces County veterans.

“If these grants weren't available it would be tough to provide any type of services for our veterans here in Nueces County,” said Martin Longoria, Nueces County Veterans Service Officer. “So these grants that are given to all these agencies, in some form or fashion, help the veteran and their families with whatever they may require.”

The two-dollar Veterans Cash Ticket has raised more than $90 million since 2009.
