Aviator association to hold dedication ceremony for new memorial

Posted: Updated:

The South Texas Aviator Memorial Association will be holding a ceremony to dedicate a new memorial site at Ropes Park on Thursday at 6:30 P.m.

The dedication ceremony will be a respectful reflection on those fallen aircrew and aviators who gave their lives in service to our nation, and to acknowledge the many sponsors who helped to build the memorial.

“We are so grateful to the individuals and businesses of Corpus Christi who have given their hard earned dollars to make this a reality,” said Caleb Booher, executive director of the association. “It will be a fitting tribute to the fallen aviators of South Texas and a heartfelt gift to the people of Corpus Christi for their steadfast support.”

Rear Adm. James Bynum, chief of Naval Air Training will speak at the ceremony, along with family of Marine Corps Captain Jake Frederick, who lost his life in an aviation mishap last year.
