Calallen Wildcats dominating again, are they better this year?

Posted: Updated:
CALALLEN -

The fourth-ranked Calallen Wildcats have breezed to a 5-0 record. They have outscored opponents 269 to 49 including wins over Carroll 55-0 and Tuloso-Midway 78-0. Those 78 points are a new school record. Can this team actually be better than the one that made it to the state title game last year?

"I really think this year's team has a great chance at accomplishing something special," said Calallen LB Brandon Broughton. " A lot of people said we lost too many good players, but we are doing really well, and I think we are going to be alright."

"We are going to continue to make statements," said QB Colton Duff. "We want to go back to AT&T Stadium and win it all. "We are a determined group, working hard  and doing what we need to do to get back to that level."

Calallen will host rival Gregory-Portland Friday night in the FNF Game of the Week.

It has been ten years since Calallen became the first area high school to get artificial turf at its football stadium. Now, it's time to replace it thanks to a 40 million dollar plus bond issue that was passed by voters back in November. A new all weather track is also being installed at Phil Danaher Field. But it's just not athletics which benefits from the bond issue.
