U.S. Border Patrol agents in South Texas found 54 illegal aliens in two separate incidents on Monday.
Agents assigned to the Falfurias Checkpoint discovered 19 immigrants concealed inside the cargo of a tractor trailer after a canine alerted inspectors to the vehicle. The driver, an adult male U.S. citizen, was arrested.
An anonymous tip led agents from the Rio Grande Valley sector to a stash house in Edinburgh later that same day. With assistance from the Hidalgo County Constables Office, agents located 35 immigrants from Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala being kept inside the house. A Mexican national at the house was arrested.
"We will continue to leverage our local, state and federal partners to disrupt these transnational criminal organizations who continue to endanger others' lives," said Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla Jr.
