A man accused in a disturbing case of animal cruelty in June 2016 will spend the day in court Wednesday.
Rosendo Gonzales is charged with felony animal cruelty after officers say they found the carcass of a small dog in a barbeque pit at Gonzales' home on the 3600 block of Saxet Drive.

Gonzales told officers he was petting the dog and was bit. He reacted, which caused serious injuries to the dog. He said he panicked and put the dog on the barbecue pit in order to "get rid of it."
Pre-trial for many facing animal cruelty charges
The plea hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. In the 319th District Court.
