12-year-old struck by SUV at Yorktown and Cimarron

Posted: Updated:

A 12-year-old boy riding his bicycle near Yorktown and Cimarron Boulevard was hit by an SUV that was exiting a convenience store parking lot this morning.

The boy suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Because he was riding on the sidewalk, the bike rider was found to be at fault. However, no citations were issued.

"Bicyclist are just like any other traffic. They have to be on the roadway," said CCPD Senior Officer Victor Casares. "If there's no bike lanes, then they have to be closest right hand on the edge of the roadway."
