In the weeks following Hurricane Harvey, a common theme around the Coastal Bend has been one of "people helping people."
One of those people volunteering their time and resources is 7-year-old Nathaniel Villarreal.
Nathaniel set up a lemonade and iced tea stand Saturday morning with the purpose of donating the proceeds to those who lost everything during Hurricane Harvey.
After Nathaniel saw the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey in surrounding communities, he says he knew he had to help.
"I told them that I was doing this for the hurricane victims that were in Rockport that crashed down and they don't have power," Nathaniel said. "I want to help people."
Nathaniel raised nearly $300 for victims of Hurricane Harvey.
Nathaniel will hand those funds over to Mayor Joe McComb during a special presentation at the City Council meeting today. The money will go toward the "Mayor's Hurricane Harvey Fund."
The council meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. at City Hall.
