Texas A & M-Corpus Christi researchers removing debris from local waterways

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

A group from Texas A & M-Corpus Christi has taken on the task of removing storm debris.

They got to work Friday removing the trash and debris clogging storm drains.

And later this week, they plan to tackle the larger pieces of debris that ended up in our local waterways.

The goal is to remove anything that might cause problems for recreational boaters.

And if you plan to venture out into the bay or the Laguna Madre anytime soon, keep a sharp lookout for submerged or partially submerged hazards that could damage your boat, there's just no telling what might be out there.

Jeremy Conkle, who is a professor at A & M Corpus Christi leading the study, says "just use caution the first few times you go out to make sure that there is no obstructions or anything in your way."
