Public invited to test drive voting machines at courthouse today

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI -

Nueces County Clerk Kara Sands invites the community to come try out some new voting equipment the county is considering purchasing. She said her office is seeking public input on the new machines.

Representatives from Hart InterCivic will be at the Courthouse today, to demonstrate what Sands refers to as the "state-of-the-art Verity System" and will be on hand to answer any questions and concerns.

Sands encourages members of the public to drop by Room 113 of the Nueces County Courthouse any time today until 6 p.m. to try out the voting machines, and let county voting officials know your opinion.

The demonstration follows the recent passage of Senate Bill 5, which is intended to reduce voter fraud, a bill Sand's has publicly applauded.
