Since 1964, live theater audiences have enjoyed a musical which became a record-breaking part of Broadway history. Now, Coastal Bend audiences can catch a local production, thanks to the Aurora Arts Theatre.
Fiddler on the Roof is set in the fictional village of Anatevka in the Pale of Settlement of the Russian Empire. The story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill within them traditional values in the face of changing social mores, and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.
The musical includes such well-know songs as "If I Were a Rich Man," and "Sunrise, Sunset."
The production runs each weekend through September 10th, with performances at 7:30 on Friday and Saturday nights, and 2:00 each Sunday afternoon.
