One arrested after fatal accident involving pedestrian
CORPUS CHRISTI -
One person has been arrested following a fatal car accident involving a pedestrian overnight.
27-year-old Robert Simmons was taken to jail for intoxication manslaughter after officers say he hit a woman with his SUV at the intersection of Ayers and McArdle around 3:30 Saturday morning. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers say Simmons lost control of his SUV after he hit the woman and rolled into a nearby ditch.
He was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and later booked into the City Detention Center.
The victim's name has not been released. The accident is still under investigation.
