Porch pirate caught on camera

PORTLAND -

Portland residents are concerned about their package deliveries after a local thief was caught on camera stealing from a resident's doorstep.

If you've ordered anything online and had it delivered to your door, you probably know how vulnerable those packages are if you're not around. Locals in Portland found out first hand when they discovered surveillance footage of a thief apparently stealing them right from their front porch. Now, police are in pursuit of the suspect responsible.

It happened back on Monday, August 7th between 11 am and 11:30 on Dallas Street. The home owner told us they had ordered some packages from Amazon for a child's birthday party but when they arrived they noticed some were missing.

So, the resident went back to check their surveillance video and sure enough, you can see a man driving a gold Toyota Highlander park in front of the house. The man waits for about 20 minutes, then leaves. But thereafter, he comes back, walks straight up to the door and steals the package.

"The thought of somebody stalking the house. I was like oh my goodness. for one for him to stalk our house like that was concerning. I'm glad we have the security cameras. We do have them outside and inside," said Greg Kindle, who caught the thief on camera.

Unfortunately, Kindle is not alone. His was just one of three incidents Portland Police has been notified of recently. They've started an investigation and believe the same suspect could be responsible for multiple incidents.

So what can you do to protect yourself and your belongings?  Police say the number one tip is to have your packages delivered at work or have them delivered to a place where someone can hold them for you, or even the post office. You can also require a signature on arrival for many deliveries.

We have reached out to CCPD to see if they have had a problem in Corpus Christi, they tell us this is a normally a problem during the holidays.
