NEW YORK -
Today's stock exchanged opened, as always, with the chime of a bell; but today, that bell was rung by a former Corpus Christi resident.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) opens with the traditional opening bell toll. On Friday, that bell was rung by former Corpus Christi resident, Darron Anderson, after which traders were set loose on the floor as the day's business began.
Anderson had more than one reason to celebrate, as Chief Executive Officer of Houston-based Ranger Energy Services, Inc. The company had its initial public offering (IPO) today as well.
Back in the 1980s, Anderson graduated from Corpus Christi's own, Tuloso-Midway High School.
