PORT ARANSAS -

Five boaters were evacuated by Coast Guard crews after their boat capsized near Port Aransas.

Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi were notified by Port Aransas Police Department that a 21-foot pleasure craft had capsized near San Jose Island. Five boaters on board were reported in the water without life jackets.

"Life jackets are imperative to boater safety," said Petty Officer First Class, Andrew Stutler, a watchstander at Sector Corpus Christi. "The Coast Guard always recommends the use of life jackets while on the water."

A Dolphin helicopter crew along with a boat crew from Station Port Aransas were launched and arrived to find that all five boaters had made it to shore at around 9:40 a.m.

The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew then landed on San Jose Island and transported the boaters to emergency medical services waiting at Mustang Beach Airport.

All five boaters were reported to be in stable condition.
