NUECES COUNTY -

A burn ban has been ordered for unincorporated areas in Nueces County as of August 9, 2017. The ban will remain in effect for 90 days unless conditions change.

The Nueces County Commissioners Court determined that a burn ban was needed at their meeting on August 9. The Court determined that conditions in unincorporated of Nueces County create a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning.

Commissioners also cited the Texas A&M Forest Service (Texas Forest Service), which determined that drought conditions exist in Nueces County.

The burn ban was ordered and effective as of August 9, and Texas Local Government Code requires that it remain in effect for a maximum period of 90 days or until it is determined that drought conditions no longer exist.
