A Corpus Christi Municipal Court judge has returned to the bench after unpaid leave to address her U.S. citizenship.
Judge Young Min Burkett was placed on unpaid leave after officials with the City discovered she wasn't a United States citizen. Without citizenship, Judge Burkett could not register to vote, which was a requirement of her position with the city, as we've reported.
When officials discovered the issue, Judge Burkett was placed on unpaid leave. She then worked quickly to gain her citizenship through a court in San Antonio.
