A family is trying to be strong after a two-year-old boy was critically injured in a car accident, the same accident that killed his mother two weeks ago.
The night of the accident Amanda's car was struck by a truck. Police say that driver was speeding and had run a red light.
25-year-old Amanda died here at the scene. Family friend Karen Smith says the family has been heartbroken since that day. Smith says Amanda was a loving wife and mother and while they try to cope with Amanda's loss, they remain by Ezra's side.
Smith said, "He continues to make great progress, but he's not the same baby he was before the accident which makes it so much harder for Kory and the family to grieve the loss of their beloved Amanda but Amanda would want them right by his side and that's what they're doing, they're going to be as strong as they can for Ezra."
Kory -- Amanda's husband and Ezra's father -- is not working while he cares for his son.
Tomorrow (Thursday), there will be a fundraiser with 100% of the profits going towards the family at PLAY, located on 7426 South Staples Street #212 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
