Educators took part in a special event to learn about health and wellness topics.
CORPUS CHRISTI -
It was back to school time for teachers and staff with the Diocese of Corpus Christi as they attended a health and wellness event.
The staff headed to John Paul II High School for a Health Wellness Academy organized by the Texas A&M University Health Science Center.
A variety of experts were brought to the event to talk with school teachers about important health information they'll need for the start of the new schoolyear.
"We have excellent presenters that will be speaking about diabetes, asthma, infectious disease and mental health," explained Star Flores with Texas A&M Healthy South Texas. "We're hoping that what they learn here today, they'll be able to share that with their students."
The seminar also included healthy living tips for educators, the idea being that if they learn and practice healthy habits themselves, they can teach their students by example.
