The Corpus Christi Police Department is wanting to pursue charges against an 11 year old girl accused of lying about being abducted.
The Corpus Christi Police department is pursuing charges against an eleven year old girl they say lied about being abducted.
The Police Department has asked the Nueces County District Attorney's office to look into whether she can be charged with filing a false report and whether they can have a directive to apprehend. A directive to apprehend is an arrest warrant for a juvenile.
Two weeks ago, the 11 year old girl was walking home with a group of friends from a city park near the Corpus Christi Trade Center. They were followed by a truck. She told police that a man got out of a truck and grabbed her, put her in the truck and took off. The other two girls told police they tried to fight the man but were unable to get their friend away from him. They ran to the girl's home and told her grandmother who called 911.
Meanwhile, the Nueces County District Attorney's office says it is reviewing the case.
The girl's mother says her daughter is telling the truth about being taken.
