Southside homeowners concerned about reckless driving

Posted: Updated:

Over the weekend there was a crash into a home on Snowgoose Road. Homeowners say that accident has brought to light an ongoing issue in the neighborhood.

People who live near the intersection of Timbergate and Snowgoose are asking for two things. They want more traffic control measures and more police presence.

They're worried about traffic coming down Timbergate and crashing into homes and property on Snowgoose, like over the weekend

Homeowners in the area say they have seen numerous instances of reckless driving at the Timbergate and Snowgoose intersection. Residents say drivers have hit the stop sign, the fire hydrant, and some houses in the area.

The home that was hit over the weekend has been hit twice before.

There are speed bumps down Timbergate and Snowgoose, but homeowners agree it's not working to stop the dangerous driving. They are asking the city to do more.

"Make this a three-way stop," said Pauli Gonsoulin about the intersection. "That might help somewhat."

Debbie, who has lived in the area for about seven years, agreed something needs to be done. "What's gonna happen is somebody is gonna die. Is it gonna take somebody to die before something gets done?"

CCPD says it did increased patrols near the area earlier this month. During that operation, officers gave out six speeding tickets. Three of those were labeled aggressive driving as they involved excessive speeding.

CCPD says it will schedule another patrol in the area and focus on catching speeders and reckless drivers. The city says the traffic engineering department is working with police to investigate the situation.
