A suspected shoplifter is in custody, after Corpus Christi Police say he crashed his car into a house while trying to flee.

Officers tell us the man was caught stealing from the H-E-B Plus in Saratoga. Witnesses gave police a good description of the suspect's car.

Officers spotted the car just before it crashed into a home on the 5200 block of Snowgoose. The suspect took off, but was captured a short time later. The suspected stolen merchandise was located.

No one was home at the time of the crash.

Officers tell KRIS 6 News that the suspect is a habitual thief, and now faces upgraded theft and reckless driving charges.
