Calallen East Elem. students learn financial literacy with lemonade
First grade students stood outside on school grounds to advertise their lemonade stand.
The special lesson aimed to help teach the value of financial literacy including earning, saving and responsibly spending money.
Students voted to donate proceeds from the event to Brooke's Blossoming Hope for Childhood Cancer.
Calallen East Elementary first graders have found a new way to learn financial literacy this year using an age-old classic: a lemonade stand.
A school-wide lemonade stand was set up for the lesson, which also coincided with National Lemonade Day. School staff said the lesson aims to teach the value in earning, saving, spending and giving to charitable organizations.
The students even held a vote for where to give proceeds from the event, deciding on Brooke's Blossoming Hope for Childhood Cancer.
The sale began on school grounds on Friday at around 1:30.
