The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of a mental health patient.
Bee County deputies were called to the Coastal Plains MHMR clinic in Beeville Wednesday evening, to a report of a 27-year-old man who was being uncooperative. Deputies discovered that the man had recently been committed to a mental health facility, and was resisting attempts to be transported by EMS.
The man became aggressive when deputies tried to talk to the patient. The man was eventually detained, evaluated by EMS, and placed in a patrol unit to wait for a transport crew.
The patient then became unresponsive in the patrol car, and was transported to Christus Spohn-Bee County. He was later pronounced deceased after several attempts to revive him were not successful.
