Students and staff at Ray High School will soon have their own voice at the state capitol.
Governor Greg Abbott appointed principal Cecilia Reynolds-Perez to the Texas School Safety Center board. She's one of 10 people across the state to be appointed to this position.
The board reports directly to the governor, the state legislature, and the Board of Education, to recommend changes to school safety measures as well as budgets and strategic planning initiatives.
