Moody Trojan baseball remains undefeated

Posted: Updated:

The magic is alive and well at Moody High School. The Trojans remain undefeated in district play and have yet to lose a game this season.

Senior, Ramsey Flores, told KRIS 6 Sports "Our freshman year we were undefeated. Now we're seniors being undefeated, so it's really awesome."

As the only team in district 30-5A without a loss, cocky or boastful doesn't describe this group. Rather, a quiet confidence best characterizes this team thanks to head coach Joe Curiel's guidance.

Senior, Alec Martinez, said, "Coach says stay humble, don't worry about the rankings it doesn't mean anything. Take it one pitch at a time, one game at a time, one inning at a time..."

Robert Arredondo added, "Stay humble. Stay off of social media, rankings don't matter. Stay within your head and keep on playing your game."

The players agree that winning is fun, but say winning with a group that you consider family is even better.

Senior, Marcus Cantu told us, "It's family. We all grew up together...when we were little we said we're all going to be seniors and we're going to go win a state championship."

The Trojans will look to remain undefeated against the King Mustangs Friday, April 21st at Cabaniss Field. First pitch is at 5:30 p.m.

The West Oso ISD made history this week when they promoted girl's head basketball coach Cheryl Fillmore to athletic director. She is the first female to hold that position at West Oso.  She is certainly qualified. Fillmore attended school there. Taught and coached there during her entire 25 career and has lived in the district for over 40 years. So she knows the needs of the district. We asked her what is the biggest need right now? "We need stability," said Fillmore....
