He's one of eight candidates running in next month's special mayoral election; Larry White said he knows what it will take to fix Corpus Christi's infrastructure.
"From spending five years on the Corpus Christi Ethics Commission, I understand what goes on at city hall," said White.
White has spent most of his life as a chemical engineer; he said that background has made him more privy to understanding infrastructure challenges.
"I think differently than most people on the city council. I approach problems differently than how they do...My goal would be to talk a lot, listen a lot and try to set an example," said White.
Infrastructure includes street and water projects. White said he would make the latter a priority, arguing that it comes down to safety.
"The sewer problem is next and it's going to be really bad...I want to focus on that and then our streets," stated White.
White argued those upgrades will make Corpus Christi attractive to investors and ultimately bring more jobs to the area.
"If we want tourism, we need good streets, safe water to drink."
The special mayoral election is May 6th. The early voting period goes from April 24th - May 2nd.
