In order to alleviate the jail overcrowding, the McKenzie Jail Annex is being expanded.
Currently the jail has the capacity to house about 412 inmates. The expansion would add two dorms each with 72 beds. In order to do this expansion, the sheriff's office had to move around several offices and to make room for the extra beds.
The project just started this past January and is expected to be completed in about a year.
Some businesses are now cracking down on their regulations, because blurred lines between federal and state standards are causing confusion regarding the difference between a service animal and an emotional support animal.
