When it comes to family entertainment, nothing beats the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra's annual Pops in the Park, an event KRIS Communications is proud to help sponsor.
Now in its 6th year, the outdoor community concert takes place at Whataburger Field Saturday, April 22nd. Last year, more than 6,800 people attended.
Guest Conductor Lee Gwozdz is a familiar face to most in Corpus Christi. He serves as Director of Music for the Diocese and Cathedral of Corpus Christi and as Executive Director of The Cathedral Concert Series, both posts he has held for the past 32 years. Lee also has extensive experience working with and conducting various orchestras across the area, including the CCSO.
This year's theme is "The Great American Road Trip," and will incorporate music from across America, including all-time favorites such as; ‘New York, New York,’ ‘Chicago,’ ‘Oklahoma,’ and of course ‘Yellow Rose of Texas.’ Popular selections from the Beach Boys will celebrate ‘California Girls,’ while guests will also enjoy a synchronized light show on the iconic Harbor Bridge and the biggest and most magnificent fireworks finale to date.
Gates open at 6:00 PM. KRIS 6 News Anchor Mike Gillaspia will once again help emcee the event. The concert itself begins at 7:30 PM.
General Admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, with children under 12 admitted free. Reserved Seating tickets are $35 for adults, $25 for students and $15 for children 12 and under. Group rates are also available. NOTE: Ticket prices increase by $2 on the day of the event.
