Phil Danaher wins prestigious Tom Landry Award

Calallen's Phil Danaher can add more hardware to his massive collection of awards. He has won the Tom Landry Award which goes to the Texas high school football coach of the year. It's a very prestigious award for a several reasons. Number one, the award is named after the former  Cowboys great head coach and number two, it's voted on by coaches across the state.

Danaher of course became the winningest coach in the history of Texas high school football this past fall and led the Wildcats to the 5A state title game.

He will receive the award May 6th at the Texas Hall of Fame luncheon.

    The West Oso ISD made history this week when they promoted girl's head basketball coach Cheryl Fillmore to athletic director. She is the first female to hold that position at West Oso.  She is certainly qualified. Fillmore attended school there. Taught and coached there during her entire 25 career and has lived in the district for over 40 years. So she knows the needs of the district. We asked her what is the biggest need right now?
