CORPUS CHRISTI -

The Nueces County Sheriff's Department has released the arrest report for Eric Morales, who is charged with criminally negligent homicide after the accidental shooting of his 2-year-old son.

According to the report, Morales put his loaded 9mm handgun in a tray on the kitchen table after coming home from dinner at a restaurant on Saturday night.

The report states the gun stayed on the kitchen table until the next morning. 2-year-old Ryan Morales found the firearm and was handling the gun when it discharged. The bullet hit the child in the right eye, resulting in his death.

Morales told police that he forgot that he put the gun in the tray on the kitchen table. The mother of the child, Jennifer Voigt, told police she did not know the weapon was on the table.

Officers say Morales' criminal negligence resulted in the death of the boy and he was arrested.

We are told Morales has bonded out of jail.
