Old Nueces County Courthouse will be on the market soon
The old Nueces County Courthouse will be on the market soon for a minimum asking price of $2.3M.
The old Nueces County Courthouse is going up for sale soon and a minimum asking price of $2.3 million has been set. The asking price includes $1.5 million in back taxes and an additional $800,000, which is the actual asking price for the building.
However, the Texas Historical Commission, have other guidelines in place that potential buyers would need to follow. Additionally, they have to take the 102-year-old courthouse as is.
"They're going to be made aware of any defects in the property so there's going to be inclusions of, if there's any asbestos or the structural report that was done previously," Laura Jimenez, Nueces County attorney, told KRIS 6 News.
Commissioner Mike Pulsey says that although the price may sound steep, it is it the most fair asking price for the building. He also admits that the county wants it sold as soon as possible.
"When the old Harbor Bridge comes down in five years, then that building is going to be one of the tallest structures in that area and it's an eyesore now and it'll be even bigger eyesore when that happens," he explained.
Although the county has already settled on a broker for the deal, Commissioner Pulsey told KRIS 6 News there is no official date yet for when it officially goes on the market. He assured that it will be in the very near future.
