The Obama Administration recommends less teaching of standardized tests in the classroom
Standardized testing has been a hot topic for quite some time, should the core curriculum be based solely on teaching to the test?
Well, the Obama Administration seems to disagree and so do local educators and parents.
Cesarea Germain represents the Association of Texas Professional Educators, a statewide education organization that's goal is to "improve Texas public schools."
Germain said, "If our students are not standardized, then why should we do standardized testing for our students?"
Upon the news that President Obama is now recommending public schools minimize the amount of teaching to the test, other parents we spoke with agree and say that children would learn so much more if a variety of curriculum was taught.
While the goal of standardized testing is accountability, it's something education organizations like the ATPE agree, has gone too far and is often redundant.
