With all the concern surrounding mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus, one local company is offering a new way to combat the mosquito problem.
Mosquitoes have caused a lot of annoyance this past year.
"It's just like a mosquito infestation. Typical South Texas weather, mosquitoes during the summer. Really bad," said Corpus Christi resident Jeff Hernandez.
Ever since a mosquito trapped in Calallen tested positive for the West Nile Virus, more people than ever want to get rid of these insects.
Air Force Veteran Mike Trodden opened Mosquito Shield in August. Business began to pick up quite a bit in the last few weeks. You may have seen the city spraying for mosquitoes in the past, but Trodden says their spraying is completely different.
"When they come down the street and spray that's gonna kill whatever mosquitoes it touches, usually at dusk. But beyond where that spray goes, it doesn't affect the mosquitoes. Our spray is leaving a lasting barrier around your yard," said Mosquito Shield Corpus Christi Owner Mike Trodden.
To make sure your property stays mosquito free, Trodden goes back every few weeks to spray the area again.
Trodden says the mosquito repelling formula they use is safe for children and pets. Those who've used the service say they couldn't be happier with the results.
"It's great. Totally different. 180. Big turnaround. I'm out here all day my days off enjoying it now," said Hernandez who purchased the service.
Trodden hopes this new service will help eliminate a major problem in Corpus Christi and make enjoying the outdoors more enjoyable for everyone.
