Scientists are asking local fishermen not to throw out the fish guts.

Researchers from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi are studying the diet of the fish in the Gulf.

They need the stomach and intestines of the fish for their studies.

The researchers are specifically looking for snappers, groupers, and a few other species.

They will be taking any leftovers you may have Thursday at Pier at Captain Kelly’s Deep Sea Headquarters on Cotter Street in Port Aransas at 3:30 p.m.

Make sure to tell the researchers the species, length, weight, location caught, and how you reeled it in.
