Local demonstrators will join others in hundreds of communities to rally for transportation funding.
The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority is leading the local event as part of the national "Stand Up 4 Transportation" Day.
The goal is to persuade congress to approve a bill that will long-term funding for the country's transportation network.
Organizers say short-term fixes over the past few years have slowed progress and cost america's taxpayers more in the long run. They say Congress must pass a funding bill by the end of May.
The rally is scheduled for Thursday at the Hector P. Garcia Plaza at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
