Fiesta de La Flor to bring Grammy-winning acts and entertainment for two-day festival in April

The Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau announced new details on Fiesta de la Flor, a major festival honoring the life and legacy of Selena Quintanilla Perez, on Wednesday.

Fiesta de la Flor will be held April 17 through 18 and will feature well-known Tejano musicians, the Alamo Drafthouse's Rolling Roadshow screening of Selena, artisan vendors from around the state of Texas, food from local and regional food trucks, a Kidzone for families, and a fireworks show.

In a statement released Wednesday, Paulette Kluge, the CEO of the CVB said, "Our team wanted to honor this beautiful, talented woman for the hearts that she has touched and the substantial contributions that she has made to the culture of our city."

City Council approved an agreement with the CVB Tuesday.

Family members of Selena are excited about this big celebration.

"It's been a long time we have waited for this to happen. We know what Selena brings as far as tourism on yearly, so better late than never," said Suzette Quintanilla Selena's Sister.

"Anything that is going to help perpetuate Selena's legacy memory and music and the great person that she was. It is awesome, its incredible," said Chris Perez widow.    



CVB officials estimate it will attract about 50,000 people from around the Coastal Bend and Beyond, and be a million dollar economic boost to the area .Festivities will kick off Friday, April 17, with acts by Steven James & The Jaded, Las Fenix and Grammy award-winning Los Lobos, followed by a special outdoor screening of Selena.

Saturday's line-up will include local Corpus Christi favorite Clarissa Serna, along with Nina Diaz, Stefanie Montiel, Jay Perez & Band, Grammy Award-winning Chris Perez, Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning Los Palominos, Latin Grammy Award-winning A.B. & Los Kumbia Kings, as well as Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning Little Joe Y La Familia.

Fiesta de La Flor will offer a front gate admission price of $5 for adults and $2 for ages 5 through 12. Children under the age of 5 will be free.
