ROBSTOWN - The deputy constable accused of attacking his girlfriend this weekend has been suspended without pay and is facing additional charges.
Ben Zapata, Jr. had been charged with retaliation after his girlfriend claimed he punched her in the mouth, dragged her by the hair and threatened to kill her.
After reviewing Zapata's case yesterday, the District Attorney's Office decided to file charges of assault family violence, terroristic threats and phone harassment against the Precinct 5 Deputy Constable.
