RICHARDSON, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville freshman Jordan Yamoah was named one of four Lone Star Conference's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year it was announced Wednesday following a vote of the league's head coaches.
Yamoah was a unanimous selection by the coaches after capping his debut indoor season with a national title in the pole vault. The freshman won the title with a season-best mark of 5.30m (17'4-1/2"). His performance helped lead the Javelinas to an 8th-place finish at the national meet.
West Texas A&M's Kenny Jackson earned top honors for men's track. On the women's side, Harding's Ews Zaborowska was the top track athlete, while Angelo State's Kearah Danville was the field honoree.
The Javelinas will have 15 athletes competing in this week's Texas Relays, while the rest of the team will head to San Antonio for the Tiger Relays at Trinity.
