KINGSVILLE, Texas - Texas A&M-Kingsville freshman pole vaulter Jordan Yamoah knocked the rust off in a big way this past weekend at the Masked Rider Open indoor meet hosted by Texas Tech. was named the Lone Star Conference Men's Field Event Athlete of the Week and was named honorable mention National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCAA.
Yamoah, a freshman from Arlington, N.Y., cleared 17'2-3/4" (5.25m) in the pole vault on Saturday. With the mark, not only did he not win the pole vault over a field that included NCAA Division I competitors, but posted the top mark in Division II this season. The mark also automatically qualifies him for the pole vault later this season and is 16th best in all district.
The Javelinas next compete in Lubbock on Feb. 2 at the Red Raider Open.
