PHOENIX (AP) - Police say a woman driving with her infant son in her car crashed through a gate at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and drove on the runway.
Sgt. Trent Crump says the woman rammed a partially open airport gate around 10 p.m. Thursday.
Police officers forced the car to stop after a few minutes and detained the driver, who was later identified as 21-year-old KoKo Nicole Anderson from nearby Mesa. She was booked into jail on aggravated DUI and criminal damage charges.
Police suspect Anderson had taken an unknown drug. Crump says she was so impaired she didn't even know her 2-month-old son was in the car.
Neither Anderson nor the infant were injured. Airport operations were stopped for about 15 minutes because of the incident.
