CORPUS CHRISTI - A Tennessee woman visiting Corpus Christi for the holidays is dead after a police say a man hit her with his car on I-37 early Sunday morning.
Police say it all started when a man and a woman got into an argument over an empty tank if gas while driving on I-37.
Police say the woman decided to get out of the car and start walking down the shoulder near Callicoate Rd.
That's when a vehicle struck her throwing her 50 feet.
Police say the impact killed the 39 year old woman.
According to police she was from Tenessee visiting Corpus Christi for the holidays.
The man who hit her, who's in his 20's, was arrested for fleeing the scene of the accident without providing medical attention.
According to police, the suspect said he was unaware that he hit the woman, and he thought he hit a street sign instead.
Police say if the suspect's blood alcohol test comes back as over the legal limit, he could be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
