ALICE -- A woman pulled up to the LC Drive-Thru Beverage Barn Tuesday night, demanded money and then pointed a rifle at the store clerk, police said.
Maria Alejandro was working at the counter about seven o'clock when a woman driving a black Volkswagen sedan pulled up. "She's all, 'I'm robbing you, give me 100.' And I told her - I was like, 'No, like I'm not going to give you $100."
At that point, Alejandro's co-worker called 911 while Alejandro continued to buy time by counting money in the cash register. Alejandro said the woman, who appeared to be in her late 30s or early 40s, told her she was desperate and needed the money to feed her children.
Surveillance video shows the woman reach over to the passenger seat to grab something. While it is not visible on camera, Alejandro said the woman reached over to grab a rifle and then pointed it at her.
Alejandro said she eventually gave the woman $90 from the cash register and $10 from her own wallet before the woman drove off.
Authorities do not have much to go on other than the surveillance video because the woman removed both license plates beforehand.
