CORPUS CHRISTI -- A day after a South Side family came forward to talk about their pet rabbits being killed, a woman who lives in the same neighborhood said she found her cat dead the same morning.
Tracey Trevena said she found her cat dead on the corner of Philomena and Bradshaw Streets last Thursday morning. A block away, around the same time, Jonathan and Michelle Rodriguez found their seven pet rabbits strangled and arranged neatly in a row on their front lawn.
"It made me feel sick -- sick," said Trevena. "I mean I can't believe anyone would even do that."
But someone did, and she said she believes the person responsible is the same person who killed the Rodriguez' rabbits. There are similarities between the two incidents. In each case, the animals appeared to have a few small punctures to the abdomen. The animals were also laid neatly in the grass.
This is not the first time this has happened to Trevena. She said she found another one of her cats dead last month. It too was found in the grass at a neighbor's house.
