Woman Accused of Attacking Officer with Cell Phone

CORPUS CHRISTI - Lagaytha Williams, 53, was arrested after police say she attacked an officer with her cell phone.

It happened in the 1400 block of Craig Street just after midnight this morning.

Officers say they showed up to the home for an assault in progress.

When they arrived, they could see Williams yelling and screaming in front of her home.

Police say she appeared to be drunk and was yelling at officers to leave.

According to police, she grabbed one of the officers and swung at him with her cell phone, hitting him in the eye.

Officers made their way around Williams and went into the home where they found two men fighting.

When they separated the two, once again, police say, Williams attacked the officer she had hit earlier.

She was tased, arrested and charged with Interference with Public Duties and Resisting Arrest.
