Williams Named Head Coach of Javelina Women's Tennis

KINGSVILLE, Texas-Autumn Williams is the next head coach of the Texas A&M University-Kingsville women's tennis program, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics & Campus Recreation D. Scott Gines announced on Tuesday.

"Our women's tennis program is 3 years young and positioned to soar. I believe Autumn has the right mix of infectious energy, recruiting savvy, teaching proficiency, and engaging leadership to build a foundation of championship success for Javelina Women's Tennis within the LSC and our region."," stated Gines.

Williams joins the Javelina Athletic Department after four seasons at Clark Atlanta University as the head coach for the Panthers. She also served as a tennis coach in the Chicago Public School System for six years and the Love 2 Serve Tennis Academy coach for four years.

From 2010 until this season, Williams coached the 2011 Southern Intercollegiate Athletics Conference Player of the Year & NCAA Division II Tournament appearance, 2013 SIAC Freshman of the Year, and Second Place in the 2014 SIAC Conference Tournament.

"Coach Williams is a proven team builder and individual instructor with a coaching pedigree that includes multiple Coach of the Year accolades in Division II's most competitive and highly ranked tennis region," said Gines.

As a head coach, she has garnered several accolades such as 2011 SIAC Coach of the Year & Outstanding Coach's Award, and the 2013 SIAC Coach of the Year.

"I am very excited about the opportunity and endeavor at Texas A&M-Kingsville with such a great school and program," said Williams, "I can't wait to meet the team, get started, and put my stamp on the program."

Williams is a 2004 graduate of Clark Atlanta with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Arts and a recent 2009 graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta with a degree in Photographic Imaging.
