INGLESIDE - Officers rushed to a home last night when a woman called 911 to report her husband was going to kill her. While she was still on the phone, the dispatcher heard one shot and the call disconnected.
At the same time police were headed to the house, another 911 call came in from Corpus Christi. This time it was a man saying he just spoke with his father in Ingleside who claimed he just killed his wife and intended to kill himself.
Police say once they got to the house on the 2000 block of La Quinta, a man standing at the front door invited them in, but they stayed back because they could not see his hands.
The man then turned to walk further inside the house. Police say that's when the officers noticed he had a small pistol with him. The man ignored orders to drop the weapon, turned a corner, then shot himself in the head.
The officers went inside to find the man dead on the floor and his wife still sitting in a chair with a gunshot wound to the forehead.
At last check, she's still alive. We're told she's in intensive care at Christus Spohn Memorial in Corpus Christi.
Authorities have not released the names of the man and wife.
