CORPUS CHRISTI - Narcotics officers seized more than one pound of cocaine, nearly half a pound of marijuana, some crack cocaine and ecstasy last night during searches of apartments on the southside of Corpus Christi.
The first search happened at the Paradise Bay Apartments around 10 p.m. Police say Marcus Anthony Garza, 23, had 53.4 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 20.19 grams of powder cocaine, 7.3 grams of crack cocaine, a gram of marijuana, just under a thousand dollars in cash and a pistol.
A few hours later, officers knocked on the door of Adrian Alaniz, 23, at the Arbors of Saratoga. Police say they received a tip about drug dealing by someone living there.
According to police, Alaniz had a gun reported stolen out of central Texas, 58.3 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 1.4 pounds of powder cocaine, half a pound of marijuana, and $5,626 in cash.
Both men face charges for drug possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Online records from Nueces County show Garza has prior convictions for robbery and drug possession. Alaniz's record shows convictions for drug possession, assault, and deadly conduct (firing a weapon in public). He just got out on parole a few months ago for the deadly conduct charge.
