CORPUS CHRISTI - An early morning fire closed down a Whataburger.
Firefighters responded to a call on the 2400 block of S.P.I.D. near Crosstown around 2:15 a.m.
Three workers and five customers noticed smoke in the building, and evacuated.
Firefighters said oil managed to get into the air conditioning ducts and then caught fire. Those ducts have been removed.
The restaurant will remain closed until a health inspector can get to the restaurant and look at the damage.
