CORPUS CHRISTI - West Oso I.S.D. is investigating possible inappropriate text messages between a teacher and a student.
The district says a female student at West Oso High School told teachers that she received inappropriate text messages from a male teacher.
That male teacher has been placed on administrative leave while the district investigates.
Superintendent Elizabeth Saenz says the female student has provided a copy of the text messages to the district for their investigation.
She says no law enforcement agencies are involved at this point.
She says the district will thoroughly check those text messages and gather information from students and staff.
"We're also looking at historical, any patterns, anything else that we might be able to find out from the time that he was hired in this district," Saenz says.
She added that she's surprised to see an allegation against this particular teacher.
"He's a very popular teacher, and he's very, you know, motivational. I've seen him in action," she says.
The district says they hope to have the investigation wrapped up by early next week.
