CORPUS CHRISTI - (29-7) West Oso will put its 14-game win streak on the line at 6pm on Friday night at the American Bank Center aganist (27-7) Smithville in the Region Semifinals.
"We are getting much better. The harder our practices are the harder we work. We just keep pushing each other to do better," said Akelya Mitchell.
The 30-3A champion Lady Bears are making their ninth regional tournament appearance in 11 seasons. They are looking to make their first trip to state since 2008.
"Every minute of the day we are talking about it, thinking about it, of all the things that can happen, how we are going to react when we win and finally make it back to state. We kind of make up this whole scenario in our head on what it's going to be like when we actually do get there," said Elizabeth Valdez.
The X-Factor in this game may be post Victoria Blankenship who is second on the team in playoff scoring netting 13.5 points per game, providing a solid option in the paint.
